Ar you guys using VB6 or VB.Net? I've had no formal training in VB except self-taught reference material and books, but I can muck through some code, wish I could create stuff if I knew how to plan out a app.

you can build just about anything you can think of with VB. you can create stand alone stuff, or applications that run inside arcgis. Visual Basic all the way, some schools teach a class specifically for GIS. It is really usefull for writing applications.

VB.net is probably the most usefully. Though I think C++ and Java are for more high end programming.

I need to take a computer programming class for my undergrad studies. Does anyone know which program (visual basic, C++, or python) I should learn that will work best for creating mapping applications with ArcGIS?
